THE CLAREMONT CHURCH
OF RELIGIOUS SCIENCE LIBRARY Our Lending Library includes the Willena Michael Memorial Library,
a special collection of books and periodicals focusing on the
convergence of science with religion and philosophy. It currently
holds about 500 volumes and is growing steadily. Soon the Willena
Michael Collection will include video and audio resources as
well. The General Collection includes about 3,400 books and 80 videotapes.
We have translations of the sacred texts of several religions,
together with commentaries and devotional materials. The Library is currently closed while
the space is renovated to include an office for our Practitioners.
We are using the “down
time” to reorganize and catalog our holdings on computer
according to the Library of Congress system. Eventually we will
have audiotapes of our ministers, guest speakers, seminars and
retreats cataloged by author, title and subject as well. (The
last time an attempt was made to catalog the Library by subject
was in 1968, when Emily Bazzare began to organize it according
to the Dewey Decimal System. Unfortunately, no relics of this
effort exist any longer.) With the new catalog system now being
implemented, our collections will not only serve as a true reference
and research library, but eventually our materials will be available
for access over the Internet.
