PATHWAY OF EDUCATION
TOWARDS PRACTITIONER

The Pathway to Practitioner Training is in a transition.  The United Centers for Spiritual Living haved changed the requirements beginning in Fall 2009.

Current Pathway

Claremont Center for Spiritual Living has tentatively scheduled a Practitioner I class to begin in February 2009.  There are 4 classes required to begin Practitioner I in February. They are:

REQUIRED COURSES

Foundational Class

The Foundational Class is the entry-level class in the study of the Science of Mind. The student is introduced to the Core Concepts of Science of Mind, and is taught how to apply these Universal Principles to his/her own life. Meditation and Spiritual Mind Treatment are taught as daily practices.

This class is 10 weeks with 1/2 day workshop. (30 Certification hours.) Textbooks are The Science of Mind, Ernest Holmes, and Living the Science of Mind, Ernest Holmes.

Spiritual Practices for Daily Living: Treatment and Meditation

This required class, which is sometimes referred to as Treatment and Meditation, focuses on the student developing lifetime habits of meditation and Spiritual Mind Treatment. Students advance to treating for other people.

This class is 10 weeks. (30 Certification Hours.) Textbooks: Journey of Awakening by Ram Dass and Can We Talk to God? By Ernest Holmes

HISTORY/PHILOSOPHY COURSES

Exploring Roots 2008

This class provides the student with an understanding of the historical roots in America of Ernest Holmes’ philosophy. Emphasis will be given to the works of Thomas Troward, Emma Curtis Hopkins, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

This class is 10 weeks. (30 Certification Hours.) Textbooks: The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes, Emerson’s Essays by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science by Thomas Troward, and Scientific Christian Mental Practice by Emma Curtis Hopkins.

Thomas Troward: Edinburgh Lectures

This class is designed to give students understanding and knowledge of the principles presented in the Edinburgh Lectures by Thomas Troward. The class exercises expand the experience and understanding of the wisdom of Troward.

This class is 8 weeks. (24 Certification Hours.) Textbook: The Edinburgh Lectures, by Thomas Troward.

Ignite Your Life with Bible Wisdom

Jesus used short stories called parables to convey profound spiritual truths. The parables charge our spiritual journey with energy and our soul with light. During this course, students are introduced to ways to interpret stories from the Hebrew Bible, as a foundation for understanding the teachings of Jesus. Students become familiar with the power of the parable stories as inspiration for transforming the soul. Students will engage in discussions, role-playing and problem solving exercises, as well as creative arts expressions.

This is a 10-15 week course. (depends on class size) (30-45 Certification Hours.) Textbooks: Learn to Live by Ervin Seale, Holy Bible – George Lamsa or other.

CONSCIOUSNESS COURSES

Practical Mysticism

This class is an exploration of mysticism, what it is and what it is not. It provides the framework for the student to live a more mystical life in present time. Each student sets a personal intention for his or her own life. Emphasis is given to the practice of meditation and the practice of witnessing consciousness.

This is a 10-week course. (30 Certification Hours.) Textbooks: The Essential Mystics: The Soul’s Journey into Truth, by Andrew Harvey, and 7 Paths to God: The Ways of the Mystic by Joan Borysenko.

Mind Body Connection

This class is designed to give the student a greater understanding of the mind/body connection, and the important role consciousness plays in the healing process. This class is a clear, step-by-step process that begins with Principle, deals with the emotional issues surrounding the body, gives emphasis to effective prayer, unlearning old concepts of duality and disease, and even practical considerations such as locating health professionals who support your belief system.

This is an 8-week course. (24 Certification Hours.) Textbook: The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

Financial Freedom

This class contains in-depth material that allows the student to examine his or her belief systems, and to gain a new perspective of how this system of beliefs is at work in their lives. Interplay of thought, emotions, desire, action, spirit, and all facets of being work together to create a new level of well being and abundance in the individual’s life.

This class is an 8-week course. (24 Certification Hours.) Materials will be provided.

Principles of Successful Living

This class is designed to give the student a greater understanding of his or her place in the Spiritual System and the part that consciousness plays in demonstrating greater good. On a very practical basis, this class offers the opportunity to set an intention for concrete demonstration of good, and to study the tools for achieving this demonstration.

Self-Mastery: The Emergence of the True Self

The Self-Mastery Class focuses on healing the perceived separation between personality and Spirit. Through an active exploration of the creative nature of thoughts and feelings, beliefs, and emotions, the students have an opportunity to gain mastery in the art of living as a conscious, intentional being.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTITIONER STUDIES

This is a two-year course preparing the student for a career as a Licensed Religious Science Practitioner. License approval is only granted to candidates who have successfully passed all examinations, completed all certificated and professional course work, and met all other requirements.

PRACTITIONER STUDIES - YEAR 1
LIVING THE PRINCIPLES - Entry into professional studies is preceded with an interview with the Minister to determine spiritual readiness and vision. The first year of Professional Practitioner studies is committed to advancing spiritual awareness and expanding the student's understanding of his/her relation to the universe. The design is to be whole and complete within itself, preparing the student to live life more fully. The personality profile ($100.00 each) is to be completed by each student during this first year of study to assist the instructor and student in further development before entering the second year, whether or not he/she chooses to continue with Practitioner II Studies, and to license as a Professional Practitioner.

The year is divided into three terms of 10 weeks each.
Term 1: How Life Gets to Be the Way It Is, based on the Law of Cause and Effect.
Term 2: Living the Life of Choice, based on the Creative Process in the Individual
Term 3: Living Life Fully, devoted entirely to the expansion of consciousness.

This class is 30 weeks. 90 Certification Hours..

PRACTITIONER STUDIES YEAR II
THE LIFE OF THE PROFESSIONAL PRACTITIONER - Entry into year two is by interview with the Minister as well as successful completion of year one. The second year of Professional Studies focuses on the consciousness, the skills, and responsibilities of the Professional Practitioner, as well as the relationship of the Professional Practitioner to the principles we teach, to the client, to the process in healing, to the church, the community and to the world.

Term 1: 10 weeks. Professional Skills and Responsibilities, deals almost entirely with the Practitioner/Client session.
Term 2: 13 weeks. Spiritual Healing is devoted to the process in healing, working specifically with challenges related to money, creative selfexpression, emotional health, physical health, death/dying, grief/loss, and relationships.
Term 3: 7 weeks. Dedication, Commitment and Service, empower the intention of each student to develop his/her Practitioner practice within the church and in the world.

This class is 30 weeks. 90 Certification Hours.
