Metaphysical
Book Club
In July of 2005 the Metaphysical
Book Club underwent a major metamorphosis. Bonnie Chase and her
husband Steve moved up north. It was a good thing. They are happy
and we are happy for them. However, this meant we lost the "fearless
leader" of the club.
Bonnie's departure brought an end
to a special style of facilitating our book club. Everyone who
was blessed to participate in the book club with Bonnie knows
what a wonderful job she really did. Many interesting books were
discussed, but the most amazing topic had to do with "What
The Bleep" the Movie. Bonnie helped bring the "Bleep
Phenomena" to our church. Both the movie itself and the What
the Bleep Study Guide were covered by the book club with Bonnie
"holding the light".
Thank You Bonnie for all you
did for our book club! You did a wonderful job and we miss you!
Following Bonnie's move, the Metaphysical
Book Club was reorganized on July 24th 2005 under the joint leadership
of Webster Moore and Dr. Robert Fromer. Our group decided to meet
every Sunday, with the fourth Sunday of the month continuing as
the summary date for each selection. Our club meets on a love
offering basis.
The first selection, Beyond
Positive Thinking by Dr. Robert Anthony, was thoroughly explored
for five weeks. Each participant had an opportunity to ask questions,
give input and contribute to this open ended discussion. Dr. Anthony
urged readers to move to right thinking and experience the kind
of life that you seeking. On October 8th some members of our group
will attend a lecture where Dr. Anthony will be speaking.
Our second selection was Walter
Williams' The Historical Origin of Christianity. For several
weeks we discussed this book and eventually moved on to our current
book, The Infinite Self by Stuart Wilde. Our first Sunday
discussing this book will be October 2nd, 2005. If you wish to
join us at the start of a new book, this Sunday would be perfect!
Many talented people are participating
in this ongoing conversation that is an extension of our church.
Patty Powers will be ensuring our web site is kept updated and
Bettye T. Francis will be our "scribe", taking notes
for our meeting minutes which will soon be added to this web site
as it undergoes its own "metamorphosis".
We Invite you to join us in the
library at 12:30 each Sunday, or on-line as the conversation continues...
Everyone is Welcome!
